John 4:23-24 – A bible study
John 4:23-24 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.
This bible verse, in my opinion, is the most prolific scripture regarding worship and, as a lover of worship, has always grabbed my attention.
For that reason, I will be breaking this scripture down so that we can really grasp the meaning & depth of what Jesus was trying to convey.
I pray this study on worship will bless you and encourage you to develop a deeper relationship with Jesus as you encounter Him in a real and life changing way.
God is looking for a ‘true worshipper.’
I get so excited when I think about God actually looking out for the ones who love to worship Him because I absolutely love to worship Jesus more than anything in this world.
Worshipping the name of Jesus is what I live for and I can’t think of anything better than to sing my song of thankfulness and love to my Saviour.
It makes me think of the scripture
For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.
God is actually singing joyful songs over us as we sing songs of praise to Him!
Wow! What an awesome thought that the King of Kings and Lord of Lords rejoices over us with singing!
I am so thankful to Jesus for what He has done for me.
Its that expression of a thankful heart that is true worship.
Being a true worshipper
- accept & receive Jesus’ free gift of salvation & love for you.
- recognise that all good things come from God alone.
- give praise, thanks and adoration to the Living God and One True God for everything He has done for you.
- offer yourself up as a living sacrifice and live your life surrendered to Christ.
True worship is connection. Its that moment when our spirits collide & we connect on a deeper than deep level with our maker and behold His beauty.
I love this spontaneous song Worship is connection by Amanda Cook from Bethel Church.
The words are:
Worship is connection
We’re not just singing to the sky
Worship is connection
We’re singing to the One
Who’s been singing over us the whole time
God wants to fulfil a relationship with us, through worship, whereby there is a two way communication process.
God does not want us bound up in religion where we are forced to worship Him.
God wants to have a relationship with us and He wants to connect with us.
