The 2,000 Mile Meal

Matthew 25:35 For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in.

‘Tuesday Talk’ is all about sharing News stories that grab my attention, providing me with something to reflect on and today’s feature from BBC News is no exception.

This is the heartwarming story of British Grandfather, Ghafoor Hussain, who travels 2,000 miles to refugee camps and cooks hot meals for strangers on his purpose built bus.

Ghafoor has spent thousands of his own money, converting an everyday bus into a fully functioning, travelling kitchen that has the potential to feed up to 15,000 people per day!

The elderly Grandfather stays in the camps and cooks for the refugees for around 3 weeks at a time, using up every last bit of funds he raises, back home in the U.K.

Ghafoor’s quest to feed the needy reminded me of yesterday’s Red Letters blogpost, ‘The impossible becomes true’. I wrote about believing for the visions and dreams that God gives us and not giving up hope. It begins with a seed; one crazy idea that will not disappear and a hearts desire to bring the Kingdom of God right here on earth. Jesus is coming for His bride one day and as we wait for His return, we have a mandate, Church, ‘to represent Christ, our Lord and His love for the world in all that we say and do.’

Philippians 2:3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit through factional motives, or strife, but with an attitude of humility being neither arrogant nor self-righteous, regard others as more important than yourselves.

      1. Oh no! I didn’t think they would as it was the same for my in-laws. I wish I’d put them on a memory stick now. If they don’t work just let me know and I’ll send a memory stick out to you. Failing that, I could email one by one 😊💕
